The Bar Programs & Academic Success Programs
The Bar Programs & Academic Success Programs at Loyola are designed to get every student ready to succeed as a law student and to pass the California Bar Exam. Our classes and programs integrate law school skills, lawyering skills, and bar exam skills.
Academic Success workshops focused on preparing first year students for the demands of law school, including case briefing, course outlining, and exam preparation, are offered in the fall semester. In the spring semester, first year students in the bottom quartile of the class take a course focuesed on improving exam taking and lawyering skills, and learning a new area of law.
Academic Success workshops designed to prepare students for the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam are offered to all second and third year students. Passing this exam is a requirement to become a California lawyer.
All students preparing for the bar exam should take the Early Bar Program, which is a comprehensive introduction to the bar exam and includes sample bar review lectures and practice questions. Students may also take an elective course, Fundamentals of Bar Exam Writing to prepare for essays and performance tests on the California Bar Exam.
Indivdual counseling is available to all students throughout each semester.
