Academic Support Program

The Academic Support Department at Loyola consists of programs designed to help students successfully complete the Law School curriculum:

Summer Institute aids a limited number of entering students prior to matriculation. The Institute, which meets for 3 weeks in the summer, provides students with an intensive introduction to legal reasoning skills focusing on briefing cases and preparing for and participating in class. The Institute is taught by an academic support instructor and members of the full-time faculty. Students are charged only for course materials. Admission into the Institute is determined by the Admissions Committee.

During Orientation, Legal Method provides first year students with an introduction to legal reasoning skills.

In First Year Tutorials , academic support instructors meet regularly with selected students who have particular academic needs to assist with overall curricular progress.

Advanced students on academic probation may elect to take Legal Process, a substantive course that emphasizes legal reasoning skills.

Graduating students are offered an Early Bar Program to introduce them to the California Bar Examination.

General - Any students may meet with Academic Support faculty to discuss issues relating to academic performance.
