Transportation Incentive Program

Benefits of enrolling in TIP:

The Law School will pay a significant portion of your transportation costs

  • You'll save money on Law School parking charges, gasoline and wear and tear on your car
  • You'll enjoy a "stress free" commute everyday
  • You'll help reduce the Law School 's parking demand.

Want to try it out before committing to TIP? Sign up for the following:

  • A four-trip ticket good for two round trips on the Metrolink train
  • Metro tokens good for two round trip tickets on the Metro buses

A limited number of complementary four-trip Trip Metrolink tickets will be available during Orientation. If you are interested in receiving one of the four-trip tickets or Metro tokens, contact Campus Planning by email at esther.martinez@lls.edu. Make sure that you include your mailing address as the ticket/or/tokens will be mailed to you.

Signing up for TIP is easy! Two steps is all it takes. 1. Use the on-line parking form to decline parking by Sunday, August 3, 2008. The system will then take you to the next step. 2. Place your order for either Metrolink or the Metro Bus/Metrorail. It's all done on-line!

On-line orders will be mailed to the address the student provided in the admissions information unless Campus Planning is notified of a different address to use. Send the address to esther.martinez@lls.edu. A self-addressed return envelope will be included with your order for payment.

If a student is not sure which pass they need for the Metro bus or Metrorail (for buses or the Red, Purple, Green, Blue, Orange or Gold Lines), they should call 323-526-3876. Give the operator the original starting point with a final destination of the 7th Metro Station at 7th and Figueroa Sts. Specific pass information will be given.

Metrolink commuters will need to indicate where they will board the train and whether they wish to order a monthly pass or two 10 trip tickets (each ticket is for ten one-way trips which is needed for two weeks of traveling to school).

All Metrolink trains end at Union Station. From Union Station a student would follow the signs to the Red Line. Students can board either the Red Line/or/Purple Line to the 7th Metro Station. Exit towards Figueroa Street. The LLS Shuttle will pick up students and staff in the white loading zone adjacent to the bus stop. No additional fee is charged on the Red/or/Purple lines as long as a valid Metrolink ticket is held.

Students are eligible to receive a 50 percent discount from the already discounted Metrolink Train, Metrorail (Red, Purple, Green, Blue, Orange and Gold) and Metro bus rates offered by the College Corporate Pass Program. Just sign up on-line and the discount will be applied.

CAN A STUDENT CHANGE HIS/HER MIND?? Parking can always be added in Campus Planning if a student decides not to use public transportation after all. The parking fee is not pro-rated. The fee is the same whether you sign up by the deadline or you add it during the fourth week of classes.

Car Pool Program

Students who form a "two-person" car pool are entitled to receive a 67.5% discount from the current annual rate of $633.60 which translates to an annual parking cost per person of only $205.92 each year -- a savings of $427.68 per person per year if the student carpools for both fall and spring semesters.

"Three-person" car pools get you free parking -- a savings of $633.60 for the entire year if the student carpools for both fall and spring semesters! As long as you commute together in the same car, you won't pay any parking fees at all. If you need to drive alone on any given day, each member of your group has the opportunity to purchase reduced-rate car pool tickets from Campus Planning.

Shuttle Services -- We're making it even easier!

If you take the Metrolink or Metrorail, you will end your journey at 7th and Figueroa, where the Law School's free, 18-passenger shuttle will pick you up for the last mile to the campus.

Plus, a "lunch shuttle" is available to take you to 7th and Figueroa, where you can have lunch off-campus, shop or run errands. Now, there's no reason to bring your car downtown.
