Links These pages contain links to sites that alumni may find helpful for career planning and job search purposes. Included below are links to sites containing legal job listings, general job listings and guides to other job search sites.* |
One obvious benefit of conducting a job search on the Internet is speedy access to information 24 hours a day at virtually any location you choose. Most job banks offer free access and searching the listings is typically a very simple process.
As a graduate of Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, one of the first resources you should access is the Loyola job listings. The school website typically has more graduate law clerk and entry level associate jobs than any commercial website (please note that lateral positions are listed as well), and of course we know that employers who list with Loyola are very interested in candidates from the school.
Other sites that have proven to be very beneficial to alumni are the paid sites of Emplawyernet, the Daily Journal (the Classifieds can be accessed for free by selecting the "Classified Ads" link located in the upper right portion of the screen) and Craig's List.
Websites may also be used to research employers. Most major law firms, as well as many small to mid-size firms, Fortune 500 companies and government agencies have websites. Many firm websites serve as both a firm resume and marketing brochure and contain more current information than that found in printed materials. Sites like Martindale also serve as an excellent resource for researching lawyers as well as law firms.
Although online resources are very useful, keep in mind that a significant number of employers do not advertise. It is extremely important to utilize additional job search techniques such as networking with personal contacts, Loyola alumni and bar association members as well as sending targeted mailings. Please speak with a counselor to learn more about these useful tools.
