The Loyola Law School Center For Conflict Resolution is located in Casassa 102. The Center provides mediation, conciliation and facilitation (ADR) services to the US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and to a vanity of courts. These services are provided in English and in Spanish at the Law School and in the community. The Center's services are available to law school students, staff and faculty as well.  The Center also provides mediation and communication skills training to the community. 

 

The Community Conflict Resolution Clinic is a public interest clinic, which is offered year-round (Fall, Summer and Spring).  The Clinic may be taken for any number of semesters.  A two-consecutive-semester commitment is preferred, but not required.  The Clinic may be taken for any number of units. Day students are asked, but not required, to take a minimum of 2 units per semester. Evening students may take 1 or more units per semester. During the first semester, students are trained before beginning their hours in The Center. At The Center students do intake work, convening, conciliation, and mediation (when ready) at The Center, under professional supervision, during days and evenings. Some research and office work may also be required. Two units of this Clinic satisfies the Law School's pro bono graduation requirement.

Students are graded pass/fail. Enrollment is year-round (Fall, Summer and Spring) and is by interview with Professor Culbert. Her office is Casassa 507. Her office telephone number is (213) 736-8334. Please complete a questionnaire and return it with a resumé to the Associate Director, Marta Gallegos in C-102 or to the Coordinating Secretary, Angie Marin in C-506. Evening students are welcome. Spanish-speakers are needed. Speaking a language other than English is not required. To enroll in a Clinic at Loyola, you should have a minimum GPA of 75. If your GPA is below 75, you must speak to Professor Blanco.

Work-study positions are available year-round (Fall, Summer and Spring). A year-long commitment is preferred, but not required. These students may also take the Clinic Training. The application process is the same as for the Clinic.

You may qualify for a Summer Public Interest Employment position at The Center. Application for this position must be made through the Law School Externship Office (Founders Hall 240) (Regarding SPIEP). Please watch for an announcement of this by the Externship Office early in the Spring semester. These students will also be asked to take the Clinic training and must also attend the interview process described above.
