Getting to know more about wireless networks - Part 2
In our second part of our review of wireless networks for your home, we look at some of the reasons why you may want to consider a wireless network in the first place.
If you have multiple computers in your home, connecting all of them to a single source of high-speed internet connection is a definite plus. Having physical network wiring installed throughout your home to provide this type of network connectivity can be an expensive proposition. It also restricts the placement of computers in a room since you need to be a reasonable distance from the network wall jack you wish to connect to.
If you have a laptop or other portable computing device capable of interpreting wireless network signals, you have the option of doing your computing work wherever you wish. The signal sent from a wireless access point does have a range after which the signal fades (attenuation). However, a single access point can most times give you coverage throughout your home, since the signal can pass through walls and floors.
