Summer Technology Training Opportunities

Classroom experienceThe Classroom Experience

This mini-course will review:

  • understanding the classroom visual systems and how they work (projectors, document cameras, VCRs, DVD players)

  • using the SmartBoard

  • understanding and working with the AMX control systems

  • working with PowerPoint

If all topics were of interest to you this course would run about 3 to 3 1/2 hours. We realize not everyone may wish to devote that much time to the training. The topics would be covered in the order shown. You may opt in or out of a topic when you wish. PowerPoint was left for last since some faculty are already proficient while others would still like to learn more about it.

after class experienceThe After Class Experience

This mini-course will review:

  • web publishing for class web sites

  • using the WebCrossing discussion board

These topics would be handled in two separate sessions, each about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

For the web publishing class, participants would complete a questionnaire regarding their previous web publishing experience and their future needs. The responses would help us determine the best software for your needs. We currently support Macromedia Contribute and Dreamweaver only. Most web publishers can accomplish what they need to with Contribute.

WebCrossing provides both discussion board and live chat room capabilities. An asynchronous discussion board can provide you with a repository for answers to common questions, helping you be more efficient in your responses to recurring student questions. Every student would have access to the board once it is set up and you have added content. Students log in to WebCrossing with the same user name and password as they would use for Loyola Law School e-mail. The synchronous chat feature can provide you with a way to "discuss" issues live with your students at any time that you all decide would be convenient. Most students are very familiar and comfortable with the chat format for communicating.
