Web publishing works best with information that is official or standardized and which does not frequently change. However, it can also be used for announcements, news and other temporary messages; transactions such as forms or database queries; and personalized info. Contact the Web Services Manager if you wish to use any of these advanced features.
- It's fast. As soon as you publish, people can get the info.
- Saves paper. No more copying and routing: publish once to the Web and they can all get it.
- Updating is simple. When information changes, you update once. Next time people browse to your page, they'll get the new info.
- Full color at no additional charge. You can include examples, samples, illustrations, photos -- even multimedia -- to make your point more effectively.
- It's cheaper. Posting and centrally managing static information such as policies is considerably cheaper than printing, binding, distributing and managing updates.
- It's searchable. All text on the Intranet is accessible through the search function.
- Archives. Electronic copies of old information, such as previous issues of a publication, can be stored.
