Loan Forgiveness Program Information

In 1988 the Loyola Law School faculty voted to dedicate a substantial percentage of its Rains Endowment to the establishment of the Public Interest Loan Assistance Program. Like the growing number of other law schools which are establishing such programs, Loyola is concerned that its graduates who wish to undertake a career in public interest law not be deterred by the massive burden of debt undertaken to complete law school.

Since July 1989, Loyola Law School has provided financial assistance to graduating students who accept lower paying public interest employment, but who need help in repaying educational loans.

LOYOLA'S PUBLIC INTEREST LOAN ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (PILAP) WAS REVIEWED BY THE DEAN'S COMMITTEE DURING THE 2011 FALL SEMESTER.  IT HAS BEEN DETERMINED THAT THE PILAP PROGRAM WILL REMAIN THE SAME AS IT STANDS UNTIL NEXT YEAR 2012 WHEN CHANGES WILL BE IMPLEMENTED.  2011-2012 PILAP APPLICATIONS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE ON-LINE BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28, 2011.
