Write-On Competition
Law review is one of the most significant and prestigious forums for American legal scholarship. Loyola of Los Angeles Entertainment Law Review (ELR), Loyola of Los Angeles International and Comparative Law Review (ILR), and Loyola of Los Angeles Law Review (Law Review) are student-edited and student-run publications that provide students with intensive research, writing, and editing experiences and that provide for the publication of scholarly writing that contributes to the study of law.
Staff and editors are awarded academic credit on a “Pass/Fail” basis for satisfactory completion of assignments and other responsibilities. Each law review requires staff members to write a case note or comment that may simultaneously qualify to satisfy the School’s upper division writing requirement.
ELR, ILR and LLR select staff members through the annual Write-On Competition. Competitors write an essay of approximately twelve pages based on a packet of supplied research materials. This essay is submitted along with the application packet and is reviewed by the current law review editors. You may apply to one, two, or all three of Loyola’s law reviews through this competition. You are encouraged to apply to all three.

REMINDERS: NO EARLY PICK-UPS. SOMEONE ELSE MAY PICK UP THE PACKET FOR YOU WITH YOUR STUDENT ID AND ELIGIBILITY SCREENING FORM. STUDENTS MUST PAY BY CHECK OR MONEY ORDER PAYABLE TO LOYOLA LAW SCHOOL. ANY COLLABORATION OR CONSULTING OUTSIDE SOURCES WILL RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION FROM THE WRITE-ON COMPETITION.
