Internet and Technology Law Society (ITLS)

The Internet and Technology Law Society (ITLS) has been established to educate and encourage students to learn how the law and technology impact each other. The focus of the society is to provide students with the means to explore technology related topics through seminars, academic journals, and internships. Major topics of interest include: internet privacy, Open-source Software, the regulatory role of government in the internet, and the globalization of law through the internet. However, Technology does not exist in a vacuum, it is intertwined with all aspects of society. The group will share with students the challenges and advances to the law presented by the internet both in case law and statutory law. Possible issues discussed may include patent and trademark issues, jurisdictional issues, and proprietary interests in technological advances. A secondary goal of our organization is to work with other student organizations and present how technology impacts their area of expertise or may impact those areas in the coming years.
