2009 Graduate Health Insurance Options

Student Health Insurance

Loyola Law School knows the matter of medical care and its costs are important. An accident or sickness can upset any well-planned budget. Please click here to view the Student Insurance Plan for Loyola Law School. (You will need to select Loyola Marymount University, then choose the Law School plan.)

Students interested in participating in intramural sports at Loyola Law School/Loyola Marymount University must show proof of accident insurance. More information on that requirement is available through the Loyola Marymount University Sports Program.

Health Service

Loyola Law School students are eligible to use Student Health Services located on the Loyola Marymount University campus in Westchester, which provides the same medical services you would expect in a primary clinic or general medical office. Procedures or health conditions outside their scope are referred out to a local health care facility and the student is responsible for all of these costs. A student's spouse or family is not eligible.

The Student Health Service is not an insurance plan. It does not assume any responsibility for medical costs incurred by students. (See above for insurance options.)

Please call (310) 338-2881 to schedule an appointment. In an effort to serve students better and to decrease waiting times, all visits to the Health Center will be by appointment only. Same day appointments are usually available. Emergencies will continue to be accepted immediately. The Law School Student Identification Card must be presented when service is requested.

Currently, limited health service is available during Summer Session or semester breaks, as set forth in the University calendar (which may differ from the Law School calendar). SHS provides a one-week grace period for seeing law school graduates who need healthcare. The grace period is the immediate week following graduation ceremonies.

For the 2004-2005 academic year, there is a $40 fee per semester (subject to change) for this service, which will be billed to the student's account when service is initiated. It may be paid in the Student Accounts Office at the Law School or may be paid when the student requests services at the Student Health Service.

Confidentiality: All medical records are covered by the laws of confidentiality of the State of California.
