Labor and Employment Law

Law practice related to employment matters has two main sub-specialties: traditional labor law (dealing with unions and collective bargaining) and laws governing individual employee rights (e.g., antidiscrimination law). Most labor and employment firms represent either management, or employees, or unions, rarely combining these three classes of clients. Firms may specialize in representing public employers or employees, or limit their practice to private employment. Two other employment-related fields with significant opportunities for lawyers are immigration law and workers compensation.
